Joffrey from Game of Thrones was down in Kilkenny performing poetry for cats yesterday - no, really
CAT LAUGHS, ONE of Ireland’s most beloved comedy festivals, is taking place in Co. Kilkenny this weekend with the likes of Dara Ó Briain, Aisling Bea, Tommy Tiernan and David O’Doherty all descending on the Marble City for a weekend of shows.
This year, theatre company Collapsing Horse have taken over the stewardship of the festival. As such, they’ve added their own little flourishes to the long-running event.
Case in point? Actor Jack Gleeson, best known for playing Joffrey in Game of Thrones, dressed as a cat and recited some absurdist poetry to a room of cats in the middle of the city yesterday. (Gleeson is a founding member of Collapsing Horse.)
It was all part of a four-hour performance entitled Pangur Bán, named for an ancient Irish poem of the same name.
“Jack Gleeson will be performing as a cat from the 9th century absurdist poem of the same name – exclusively for an audience of cats,” the festival explained on Facebook.
Because why the hell not, really?

Here’s a glimpse at how it all looked as it was going down.
